The Payments Council acts as the key vehicle for enabling payment industry collaboration on a diverse range of topics including:

To facilitate this, the Payments Council has set up a number of committees and sub-groups which enable a cross-section of Payments Council members and stakeholders to participate in this work.

The Payments Council works to develop and promote world class standards for the use in the payment systems in the UK. - Payment integrity
One of the Payments Council’s key objectives is to ensure the integrity of payment services in the UK, though a primary focus on issues which cut across the payment schemes. - European developments
The Payments Council monitors and participates in the work of the European Payments Council (EPC) which supports and promotes the creation of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) - Regulatory developments
The Payments Council acts as the lead on regulatory developments in the payments industry such as the Payment Services Directive. - Cash
The Payments Council acts as the focal point for the provision of strategic direction on co-operative (non-commercial) issues for cash.
